What made you choose Real Estate as your profession?
After more than 20 years of being a Registered Nurse, I decided to make a change, but still wanted to have another career which would involve helping people. Becoming a Real Estate professional was a natural choice, because firstly I love everything about homes and construction; and secondly I know that people are always moving; and whether for necessity or by choice, I knew I could help make their buying and selling experiences a positive one.

What makes you good at what you do?
I've experienced firsthand many moves and transfers throughout the country. I've sold real estate in several different provinces and cities, and worked with many different real estate sales people. All this combined with patience and empathy from my years of nursing has given me the knowledge of knowing what is needed to help people not only with their real estate decisions but with making a move much less stressful. Jennifer and I work hard and don't turn people away- no matter what their budget is. We strive to have clients who come back to us time after time, who are happy even after the sale is complete- and who refer us to others! I guess that's what keeps us in the top 5% of all Royal LePage salespeople across Canada.

What makes Ottawa a great city to live in for you?
Ottawa is a big city with a small-town heart. I love this city! There's so much green space, and so many walking trails. We have everything that a larger center has without the congestion. The surrounding communities areas are full of places to see and things to do. Ottawa has so much history- and there's always an event going on that one can get involved in.

Do you have other interests besides Real Estate?
Gardening is one of my passions. Poetry is another- I have conducted several poetry reading groups for retirement residences in Ottawa, and have had in the past other poetry groups as well as a Senior's choir. I also love bird-watching, walking, hiking and traveling. I have so many interests- sometimes I think that life just isn't long enough for all I want to do!

What made you choose Real Estate as your profession?
After receiving my degree in Political Science and working as a Political Assistant in the Federal Government for a while, I decided I wanted a career that still allowed me to work directly with the public while affording me more flexibility and ownership of my career. I found that Real Estate provided the opportunity to do just that. As a Salesperson, I get to escape from behind my desk to view Ottawa's architecture and enjoy the various different styles of homes, and best of all, I get to work with many wonderful people.

What do you enjoy most about Real Estate?
Real Estate is such a unique career and that makes it hard to choose just one aspect that I enjoy the most. I have always loved looking at homes and there are so many different styles, floor plans and interior designs to be seen. Whether I am looking at new construction or a turn-of-the-century residence, I love to explore the attributes and possibilities each home has to offer.

Do you work with a specific type of client?
As Barb says, we don't turn clients away - no matter their budget or needs. As a team we deal with a wide variety of clientele from different walks in life. Personally, I love working with first-time homebuyers. Purchasing a home for the first time is an exciting and important decision to make. Having recently been a first time homebuyer myself, I understand and have dealt with the many concerns and issues that can arise. Helping First time buyers make sense of the home buying process and ultimately finding the best home that suits their needs and desires is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. My goal is to make all of my clients' real estate transactions as exciting and memorable as possible.

Do you have other interests besides Real Estate?
Although Real Estate does require a lot of my time, I do have other interest that I participate in. You know the saying "All work and no play"...
One of my great passions is music. It doesn't really matter what kind, classical or rock and roll, I love it all. I enjoy attending the many concerts and festivals conducted throughout the year. We have great venues here in Ottawa and are very fortunate to get a variety of great bands and performers to the area.
I also love History. Ottawa has many fascinating museums and attractions which I enjoy visiting when the opportunity presents itself. My favourite, by far, would have to be the National War Museum.
